BHB provided MEP engineering design for the 38,000 SF, $11 million sanctuary addition of Arborlawn United Methodist Church. The addition included a 1,200-seat sanctuary, which houses a $1.3 million pipe organ; bride and groom spaces; five classrooms; and large foyer. This project also included renovation of the existing children’s multipurpose room.

Electrical design provided a new amp and voltage system for the sanctuary. The project included three phases to meet current needs and to support future expansions included in the church’s master plan.

The sanctuary house lighting system utilizes pendant mounted, dimmable, fluorescent fixtures. Egress lighting within the sanctuary uses pendant fixtures with a central battery system for emergency backup power. Mechanical design included a variable air volume (VAV) air conditioning system with hot gas reheat for tight temperature and humidity control.
