In 2016, a core team of professionals began discussions on a company rebrand to depict the inventive, long-term solutions for which the firm is known. When Baird, Hampton & Brown (BHB) was established in 1992, we were focused on civil, electrical, and mechanical projects. Today, the firm has evolved to also provide land surveying and landscape architecture services. To refresh the look of the nearly 25-year-old firm, the team partnered with Shaffer Creative, LLC, to collaborate and complete the rebrand for BHB’s 25thanniversary in 2017.
The rebrand brought together staff at all levels in a learning exercise to truly define their core principles. After several exercises and months of collaboration, a new tagline—Building Partners—was developed, speaking both to BHB’s mission of creative, sustainable engineering solutions through honest, long-term relationships and the firm’s place in the built environment.
Also central to the rebrand was a modern twist on the existing BHB logo. Implementing slight design and color changes to emphasize the letters B – H – B, the team created a new version of the logo that spoke to both long-time and new team members alike.
Ultimately, the tagline Building Partners and the redesigned logo became core elements of the rebrand that were reinforced in new pieces and collateral, including company letterhead, business cards, brochures, and service sheets. In addition, a full brand manual detailing logo, tagline, color, and font parameters for BHB’s new brand was developed.
In 2017, BHB celebrated its anniversary with an event for staff and clients. The event campaign—save the date, invitations, and signage—featured art paired with the new logo. BHB Marketing Director, Shonnah Driver, had a vision to use abstract art of engineering plans as the anniversary campaign design. With artist Katie Murray and graphic designer Julie Shaffer of Shaffer Creative, LLC, the campaign design was a success, resulting in an international MarCom award, rave reviews, client referrals, and Katie’s final paintings that now hang in the front lobby of BHB’s corporate office.
Most recently, in mid 2017, BHB introduced a redesigned website that features our staff and their outstanding work and design principles.
