Skylar Lyle, PE
Associate | Civil Engineer
Skylar came to BHB in 2014 with a degree in environmental engineering and a hunger to learn more. After experiencing an F5 tornado in the 90’s, she became interested in meteorology and the extreme effects of weather. Before graduating high school, she met Tarleton University’s (now) Associate Dean of Engineering and Computer Science, Dr. Denise Martinez, who described a new program offering in environmental engineering. This intrigued her—rather than dealing with the predictive aspect of weather, she would investigate how to deal with the water once it reaches the ground.
After passing her Fundamentals of Engineering exam, BHB was the first company Skylar applied to. She was drawn to the diversity of projects and the opportunity to learn more aspects of civil engineering beyond her collegiate studies, which focused on hydrology and hydraulics. She now works on a variety of projects, including public and private infrastructure and site development.
There’s something that few people know about Skylar; she’s a black belt in Taekwondo, and while she hasn’t trained in years, she was once quite good in sparring tournaments. These days, she likes to spend her free time visiting state parks with her husband Michael to hike and kayak. They met in the library at Tarleton studying for finals and now live in Frisco with their son, Asher.
