BHB provided MEP engineering design services for the new 185,000 SF, $32 million Timberview Middle School for Keller Independent School District. The building includes a living laboratory demonstration facility for faculty, staff and students to learn about sustainable design. The middle school was designed to achieve LEED Silver certification and won an EPA Award.

Energy recovery ventilators were provided to pretreat outside air and achieve an increased ventilation rate of 30 percent above the ASHRAE Standard 62.1. Low-flow plumbing fixtures, including shower heads, were provided to reduce the overall water usage of the building by 30 percent. The lighting system was designed to reduce energy by 25 percent over the baseline case and included a low-voltage relay system and daylight harvesting controls.
