Ronald Ishmael, PE, LEED AP
Senior Associate | Structural Engineer
Growing up, Ronald’s family had strong ties to the construction industry and was often involved in some type of construction project – whether it be for a local nonprofit, family members, or the farm he lived on. In fact, his childhood home was a barn that his parents turned into a house. It comes as no surprise that Ronald knew he wanted a career in construction from a young age, and his success in mathematics pushed him toward engineering. He attended Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in construction management through the civil engineering department. During his last semester, however, the degree program was altered, and he decided to switch to the specialty of structural engineering. The unplanned change of course turned out to be exactly what Ronald had been looking for.

His background includes structural design services for new and existing buildings, structural assessments and evaluations, historic preservation, and forensic failure investigations. Ronald has experience with multiple construction materials such as steel, concrete, wood/timber, cold formed steel, ICF, foundations, and FRP, and has extensive experience in elevated concrete design. He is also heavily involved in the Fort Worth Structural Engineers Association of Texas (SEAoT) and is a past president of the International Concrete Repair Institute.
Outside of the office walls, Ronald spends his spare time with his wife, a high school anatomy and forensics teacher, and two children, Laykin and Cohen. He can often be found fishing, working on personal construction projects including his wife’s classroom, playing with his kids, and rooting for the Texas A&M football team. Ronald also enjoys traveling to unique places and finding activities that involve communicating and interacting with local residents. His recent expeditions include visiting off-the-path wineries in Napa and Sonoma, finding local hot spots in Alaska, and taking a road trip through the Philippines.

Gibran Michel, DBIA, LEED AP
Senior Associate | Senior Mechanical Designer
Gibran Michel has been with BHB since 1996. A year after high school, he started with BHB as a drafter and absorbed as much information as he could concerning HVAC and plumbing design. Since that time, he has gone on to learn what he can about the other engineering tasks that goes into the construction of new buildings and the renovation of existing buildings. With this knowledge, he has been able to help his clients from the very start of on their projects. Including site selection, zoning changes, overall site utility advisement, building space planning, and many other tasks that are involved in this process.
During his design time with BHB, he has worked on everything from a 1,500 square-foot retail space all the way to a 500,000 square-foot distribution center for a major beer supplier. Projects have included schools/universities, churches, hospitals, retail, multi-family, high-rise buildings, warehouses, and everything in between.
After 20 years of design experience over thousands of projects, he began developing good relationships with clients that started pulling him away from the day-to-day design of their projects and turned him into the direct contact for the client. For BHB, Gibran become an overall project manager that was able to coordinate design efforts for all the engineering for his clients’ projects as well as a focal point within the company for projects that had difficulties during construction.
When he is not working, he likes to spend time with his wife, Molley, along with working out 4 to 5 times a week. His favorite place to vacation is the Caribbean with its’ warm weather and great beaches. You can also ask him about his own experiences handling home repairs, building a 200-foot-long railroad tie retaining wall or updating a 100+ year old cabin on his family property outside Lampasas, Texas.

Mario Calzada, PE
Associate | Electrical Engineer
There was never a doubt in Mario’s mind—he wanted to be a scientist or engineer. As a kid, he always liked math and science classes; in high school he liked the idea of building small machines and becoming a mechanical engineer. However, after taking a physics class and joining the robotics team he started to explore the idea of studying computer science and electrical engineering, ultimately pursuing a degree in the latter.
Mario’s career began at BHB as a graduate electrical engineer after an internship with another firm and his college graduation. Although he works on a variety of projects (including higher education and faith-based facilities), industrial and commercial facilities has become a specialty of his. In addition to work at Texas Christian University, he manages many of the firm’s new construction and renovation projects at Lockheed Martin Missile Fire Control facility.
Outside of work, Mario is a motorcycle enthusiast. In addition to riding on the weekends when the weather permits, he also once helped a friend build a custom bike using an old 2008 Ninja 250, and hopes to one day take a multi-country tour of Europe on motorcycle. When traveling, he enjoys trying different cuisines. He also started mountain biking and enjoy riding the trails at River Legacy Park in Arlington. At home, he also likes to work on small electronic and 3D printing projects.

Paul Morris, PE
Associate | Electrical Engineer
In the early years of his life, Paul went through several intense experiences at the hands of nature: a severe thunderstorm in his hometown, a significant blizzard while in Virginia in second grade, an EF-4 tornado direct hit to his college dormitory, and a large typhoon while in South Korea where his family lived for eight years. These close calls led to an interest in meteorology—that is, until his Sunday school teacher shared with him about his career as an engineer. As he learned more about the profession, he felt it would be a good fit (he’s always enjoyed math and building things), and the rest is history.
Paul began working at BHB in 2013 as a graduate electrical engineer and works on many of the firm’s municipal, commercial, multifamily, and hospitality projects. He is part of the core team here at BHB working to implement data-driven power systems such as Power over Ethernet (PoE) and other technologies such as fault-managed power systems and DC power system integration.
Outside of work, Paul was recently married and enjoys spending time with his wife being active in their church and exploring cooking, making ice cream and participating in all sorts of adventures. Paul also enjoys playing outdoor sports or indoor board/card games with friends, drinking coffee, watching movies, and reading books. When given the chance, he loves escaping to Colorado to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the mountains and beautiful scenery. Paul recently got to hike a “14er” (fourteen thousand foot mountain peak) in Colorado with his wife and family which was one of the most challenging physical undertakings he has been through.

Skylar Lyle, PE
Associate | Civil Engineer
Skylar came to BHB in 2014 with a degree in environmental engineering and a hunger to learn more. After experiencing an F5 tornado in the 90’s, she became interested in meteorology and the extreme effects of weather. Before graduating high school, she met Tarleton University’s (now) Associate Dean of Engineering and Computer Science, Dr. Denise Martinez, who described a new program offering in environmental engineering. This intrigued her—rather than dealing with the predictive aspect of weather, she would investigate how to deal with the water once it reaches the ground.
After passing her Fundamentals of Engineering exam, BHB was the first company Skylar applied to. She was drawn to the diversity of projects and the opportunity to learn more aspects of civil engineering beyond her collegiate studies, which focused on hydrology and hydraulics. She now works on a variety of projects, including public and private infrastructure and site development.
There’s something that few people know about Skylar; she’s a black belt in Taekwondo, and while she hasn’t trained in years, she was once quite good in sparring tournaments. These days, she likes to spend her free time visiting state parks with her husband Michael to hike and kayak. They met in the library at Tarleton studying for finals and now live in Frisco with their son, Asher.

Toby Stock, RPLS
Project Manager | Senior Land Surveyor
He would have been the fifth generation of his family to become a farmer and rancher, but as he grew up on the family farm, Toby became more intrigued by history and exploration. In many ways, having been raised to have an appreciation for the land ultimately piqued his interest in modern day mapping and led him to land surveying.
During one summer in college Toby worked as a park ranger at Lake Proctor. He faced the daunting task of light bulb inventory throughout the park—this helped him realize that government work was not for him. He went on to work as a land surveyor on oil and gas projects throughout Texas for 11 years before joining BHB, where he now leads the firm’s land surveying team in Weatherford.
He enjoys spending time with his family and nieces, whom, at their young age, appreciate his “Uncle” humor. Outside of work, if the conditions are just right, he’ll attempt a round at one of the area golf courses. Toby’s words to live by: “Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”
