Designed by LBL Architects, this new facility features an on-site surgery center and clinic, separate receiving for public surrender, an adoption mall for viewing of cats and dogs available for adoption, “get acquainted” rooms, exercise yards, staff offices and work area, community room, and drive-through sally port. The facility will include 131 dog kennels and 128 cat cages. Green building features include energy efficient heating and cooling units, thicker insulation and natural light from skylights. The new location, adjacent to the Arlington Southeast Branch Library, will be more visible and accessible to the community and help boost the City’s adoption rate for homeless animals.
