Water-Cooled VRF Systems for High-Rise Buildings

During a tour of LG’s headquarters in South Korea, BHB mechanical designer Gibran Michel noticed the Research and Development Department utilizing water source heat pumps connected to a condenser water loop to heat and cool their high occupancy conference rooms and lobby areas. This sparked the idea for a cost-effective and space-conscious Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) design that could be utilized in a similar fashion to service high-rise buildings.

This white paper will break down the components of a Water-Cooled VRF system and address the advantages and disadvantages of using this system in high-rise building applications.
