Baird, Hampton & Brown (BHB) recently partnered on the design and development of Blazing Trail, a 55-acre industrial fulfillment center in Fort Worth, Texas. This large-scale development includes four warehouse buildings constructed in phases, with sizes ranging from 76,500 to 340,000 square feet and totaling approximately 657,000 square feet. The project supports the region’s growing industrial market with high-capacity, modern facilities designed for flexibility and efficiency.
BHB provided full civil engineering, electrical engineering, land surveying, and landscape architecture services for the site. The civil team designed all on-site infrastructure, including water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, fire lanes, grading, and paving. Site planning and utility coordination were completed alongside other design professionals to ensure seamless integration between architectural, mechanical, electrical, and irrigation elements. As part of the drainage strategy, BHB designed two detention ponds in series to manage runoff and protect the development from flooding.

Public infrastructure improvements were a significant component of the project. BHB designed a half-mile extension of Mark IV Boulevard to serve the site and future industrial growth in the area. Additionally, the team coordinated and designed a mile of off-site utility improvements, including 4,500 linear feet of public water line and 4,200 linear feet of sanitary sewer extension. These improvements were permitted and coordinated through the appropriate city and state agencies. Electrical engineering services included public street lighting design for the new roadway extension, completed in collaboration with the City of Fort Worth.
The landscape architecture team created a design that exceeded the City of Fort Worth’s urban forestry and landscape ordinance requirements. The site features more than 220 trees and 1,400 shrubs, along with a mix of perennial plants, native grasses, and groundcovers to provide year-round visual interest. A dedicated outdoor patio area was also included in the design, incorporating ornamental trees, decorative boulders, and crushed stone paving to create a welcoming and functional outdoor space. The final landscape design package included detailed plant schedules, specifications, and drawings for trees, shrubs, and groundcovers.

Blazing Trail reflects BHB’s ability to deliver cohesive, multi-disciplinary design services on large and complex projects. With careful coordination, strategic planning, and a commitment to quality, the BHB team helped bring this major industrial development to life, supporting Fort Worth’s infrastructure and economic growth for years to come.
