BHB provided MEP engineering services for the expansion of Faith Baptist Church. Located in Artesia, New Mexico, approximately 40 miles south of Roswell, the project included 32,560 square feet of additional space that consisted of three new buildings: a sanctuary, admin building, and a nursery. The new sanctuary building, located on the east side of the existing structure, included A/V support spaces, a new lobby, and restrooms, and nearly tripled the size of the church grounds.

BHB’s mechanical services for this expansion included the addition of three packaged units set on grade for the new sanctuary, two packaged units on the roof for the lobby, two heat pump/ductless split systems to serve 10 indoor units, three split systems to serve the administrative building, and four split systems for the new nursery.

The electrical engineering scope consisted of a new 2000-amp service for the electrical distribution equipment, branch panelboards, and new mechanical equipment. BHB’s electrical team coordinated the design of a new 208-volt, three phase utility transformer with the existing utility company to meet NEC requirements. A new lighting control system was also implemented to integrate both the house lighting and DMX controlled light fixtures in the sanctuary into one comprehensive control system.

With the addition complete, Faith Baptist Church can now hold services for more people in the Artesia community, while providing a larger space of worship.
