Mario Calzada, PE

Associate | Electrical Engineer

There was never a doubt in Mario’s mind—he wanted to be a scientist or engineer. As a kid, he always liked math and science classes; in high school he liked the idea of building small machines and becoming a mechanical engineer. However, after taking a physics class and joining the robotics team he started to explore the idea of studying computer science and electrical engineering, ultimately pursuing a degree in the latter.

Mario’s career began at BHB as a graduate electrical engineer after an internship with another firm and his college graduation. Although he works on a variety of projects (including higher education and faith-based facilities), industrial and commercial facilities has become a specialty of his. In addition to work at Texas Christian University, he manages many of the firm’s new construction and renovation projects at Lockheed Martin Missile Fire Control facility.

Outside of work, Mario is a motorcycle enthusiast. In addition to riding on the weekends when the weather permits, he also once helped a friend build a custom bike using an old 2008 Ninja 250, and hopes to one day take a multi-country tour of Europe on motorcycle. When traveling, he enjoys trying different cuisines. He also started mountain biking and enjoy riding the trails at River Legacy Park in Arlington. At home, he also likes to work on small electronic and 3D printing projects.
