Omar Rubio, PE
Project Manager | Civil Engineer
As a child, Omar Rubio wanted to be a carpenter by day and a comedian by night. He won first place in his eighth-grade talent show with a stand-up comedy act! The construction industry was a big part of Omar’s family so that was always a possibility for him, but he didn’t know in what capacity until he took an Introduction to Engineering class in college.
Omar attended the University of Texas at Arlington where he received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He started at BHB as an intern in 2015 and enjoyed working on a wide range of projects and receiving the guidance he needed to build his career. Since accepting a full time position at BHB in January 2017, he has gained experience in civil engineering design on a variety of public improvement, land development, and heavy industrial projects. His experience includes roadway design, water and wastewater design, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and site development.
In his free time, Omar still does carpentry projects (mostly for his wife Natalie, whom he met in college). He also enjoys watching movies, dancing, playing sports, and almost any activity that involves getting together with his loved ones. He loves to travel with his wife and try new restaurants with her, preferably somewhere tropical where he can have a cold margarita in his hand.
