BHB’s Civil Engineer Lindsay Lafferty, PE was recently selected by the American Society of Civil Engineer’s (ASCE) Fort Worth chapter as their 2021 Young Engineer of the Year. Every year this award recognizes civil engineers 35 years old and younger that showcase outstanding work in the civil engineering profession and make significant contributions to the public welfare.
While attending the University of Texas at Arlington, Lindsay spent three years as a member of the ASCE student chapter. Putting her creative talents to work, she led the chapter’s newsletter efforts giving her valuable experience and insight into the organization. After graduating from UTA in 2016, she joined the Fort Worth chapter of ASCE and worked her way up to her current positions as the Newsletter chair and a Director on the board. In college, she predominately worked on the newsletter for her student chapter, which helped her gain experience to be the newsletter chair in the Fort Worth chapter. Aside from Lindsay’s involvement in ASCE, she also serves on the Texas Society of Professional Engineer’s (TSPE), Young Engineers Committee.
“I’ve been involved with Fort Worth ASCE since my first day of being an intern at BHB. Watching others accept this award each year was so inspiring to me. Receiving this award was a huge honor and very humbling to be recognized in this way,” said Lindsay.
Outside of work and her involvement in professional organizations, she loves to be outside, spend time with her family and friends, rock climb, play with her dog, and baking. She is a big sweet tooth and bakes cookies, cupcakes, pies and much more! She also doesn’t mind sharing and sometimes will take requests from her co-workers and bake treats for the whole office!
