CIVIL
Ally May | Civil Intern
Tarleton State University, Class of 2026 – Civil Engineering
Ally has had a rewarding experience interning at BHB this summer, exploring potential career paths in both civil and structural departments. Passionate about pursuing a career with a focus either on hydrology or structural engineering, Ally has particularly enjoyed mastering storm drain calculations and improving her CAD skills during her time here. “The staff at BHB has been incredibly welcoming, which is something that stood out to me,” Ally said. “Everyone was eager to help and answer any questions I had, which really helped me to learn as much as possible this summer.” Outside of engineering, Ally loves to cook and bake.
Rene Baker | Civil Intern
University of Texas at Arlington, Class of 2026 – Civil Engineering
Rene has enjoyed the collaborative and friendly environment at BHB’s Grapevine office, where the mix of disciplines fosters open communication and strong teamwork, making it a truly supportive place to learn and grow. “Everyone is open with each other and there are no walls between disciplines, so there’s an atmosphere where you are always confident that you can truly rely on one another, and I have cherished that very much,” she said. This summer at BHB, Rene particularly enjoyed contributing to a playground replacement project for the City of Fort Worth, where she gained valuable insights into floodplains and floodways, which she found to be very interesting. After graduation, Rene is considering pursuing a master’s degree in hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) or environmental engineering, but she also dreams of celebrating her achievement with a vacation abroad, with Ireland and New Zealand topping her travel list. A fun fact about Rene is that she built her own PC last year, researching all the parts, purchasing them, and assembling the computer as a personal project—a process that was both enjoyable and educational.

Matthew Huang-Frazier | Mechanical Intern
Texas A&M University, Class of 2025 – Mechanical Engineering
Matthew has found his experience at BHB to be both eye-opening and educational. Initially unaware of the full scope of what consulting engineers do, he was pleasantly surprised by the hands-on nature of the work, particularly during site visits where he could see the practical application of his designs. Matthew’s favorite project so far has been working on the UNT Discovery Lab, where he gained experience in everything from initial designs to collaborating with manufacturers and suppliers. He appreciates the supportive and friendly atmosphere at BHB, noting that his colleagues are patient and always willing to teach. Outside of his engineering pursuits, he enjoys playing volleyball and pickleball.
